Programme Terms & Conditions

1. What is a Ferienjob?

The Ferienjob Germany programme is a short-term employment arrangement of maximum 90 calendar days within any 12-month period, organised by SHB Personalservice GmbH under Β§ 14 para. 2 of the German Employment Ordinance (BeschV). Your legal employer is Abax Personaldienstleistungen GmbH, Mannheim, Germany.

Your contract guarantees at least 35 working hours per week. Your wage is at least €15.33 gross per hour β€” the minimum wage for temporary employment from 1 September 2026. Shift allowances or your assignment can make it higher, never lower.

All rules of the programme are explained in detail in the Ferienjob Academy at ferienjobgermany.de. You are expected to complete it.

ℹ️ A Ferienjob is NOT an internship (Praktikum), NOT a traineeship, and NOT a pathway to permanent residency, long-term employment, a career placement, or an immigration opportunity of any kind.

2. Physical Demands

The work is physically demanding. You will be required to stand, walk, lift, carry, and sort goods for shifts of up to 8 hours, occasionally up to 10 hours within the limits of the German Working Hours Act. Work may take place in warehouses, cold storage, or outdoor environments. You confirm that you are in good physical health and capable of meeting these demands.

⚠️ You must inform us before you start if a medical condition would prevent you from performing the work described above, or would put you or others at risk.

3. Strictly Prohibited Behaviour

The following will result in immediate termination without compensation:

  • Consumption or possession of alcohol at work, and of illegal substances at work or in the accommodation
  • Theft of any kind β€” including from colleagues, the employer, or clients
  • Violence, harassment or discrimination of any kind
  • Unauthorised absence β€” staying away from work without notifying your shift leader
  • Working for any other employer in Germany during the placement
  • Sharing confidential workplace information on social media or elsewhere
  • Violation of visa or immigration conditions

4. Performance & Termination

You are expected to maintain a professional standard of performance throughout your placement. Consistent underperformance, unreliability, or poor conduct will result in termination. In severe cases, termination may occur without prior warning, as far as your employment contract and German law allow this.

5. No Compensation for Costs

⚠️ This is critical: Neither SHB Personalservice GmbH nor Abax Personaldienstleistungen GmbH will reimburse flight costs, visa fees, document preparation costs, medical fees, or any other expenses β€” in the event of early termination, visa rejection, or non-commencement of placement for any reason whatsoever β€” unless the cancellation was caused by us.

6. Visa & Immigration

You are solely responsible for obtaining your German work visa. You may not enter Germany or begin work without a valid visa. Overstaying your visa is a criminal offence.

7. Accommodation

Where accommodation is provided, you must maintain cleanliness, respect fellow residents, and comply with all house rules. Theft, violence, or destruction of property results in immediate termination of your employment and of your right to use the accommodation. You are required to move out immediately.

8. Social Security & Tax

Your employment is classified as kurzfristige BeschΓ€ftigung. Standard social security contributions are not deducted. You are responsible for any personal tax obligations in Germany or your home country.

9. Communication

You must be reachable by phone and WhatsApp during your working hours and whenever shifts are being arranged. If you are ill, you must inform your shift leader before your shift begins and then send an e-mail to studenten@abax.de β€” on every day you cannot work. A medical certificate (AU) is required if you are unable to work for more than three calendar days.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany. There is no agreed place of jurisdiction with consumers; the statutory rules on jurisdiction apply.
